Education is a topic that never ceases to be fascinating and worthy of exploration. Discussions about education are endless, always presenting new and intriguing insights.
Many people typically view education as limited to teaching and learning activities involving teachers and students. However, this perspective falls short of encompassing the full concept of education. In reality, education involves not only the role of teachers as educators and students as learners but also the crucial role of parents and families. These stakeholders play a significant part in achieving the ultimate educational goals, forming what we often refer to as the “education pyramid” (Students – Teachers – Parents/Family).
In an effort to maximize the educational program, Cahaya Rancamaya School, through its Parent Coordinator Department, organized a parenting seminar for the parents and guardians of its students. This event was made accessible both in person and online, ensuring that even those unable to attend in person could participate.
The seminar took place on Friday, September 6, 2024. The school was fortunate to have an exceptional speaker, Dr. Raden Ridwan Hasan Saputra, M.Sc. (President Director of the MIPA Education Clinic (KPM) and author of the book Suprarational Parenting). Dr. Saputra is deeply passionate about and committed to education. He is not only an observer but can also be considered a pioneer in the field, as evidenced by his outstanding work and extensive experience.
The seminar, themed “Suprarational Parenting: Sharpening the Intelligence of Children’s Hearts and Minds to Achieve Success,” was met with great enthusiasm by the parents and guardians in attendance. Through the materials and experiences shared by the speaker, parents gained valuable insights into educating their children. They also gained a new understanding that the success of a child’s education is closely linked to the role and example set by parents and family. Furthermore, in addition to intellectual development, the cultivation of emotional intelligence in children is crucial. This ensures that they grow into knowledgeable individuals with strong morals, aligned with the guidance of Islamic teachings.
