Cahaya Rancamaya Islamic Boarding School ended the 2023/2024 academic year with a happy smile, Alhamdulillah. As we enter the end-of-year holidays for 2023/2024, the students of Cahaya Rancamaya Islamic Boarding School, representing our beloved country Indonesia, have once again succeeded in showcasing their best achievements on the international stage.
In the International Greenwich Olympiad 2024 (IGO) event held by North London Grammar School on Friday, June 14, 2024, four teams from Cahaya Rancamaya School achieved notable success. They secured 1 Silver Medal in the Environment category (Enes Halis & Zulfiqar Nurrahim Putuanda, Grade 8 middle school students, supervised by Ms. Stevi), 1 Bronze Medal in Physics (Fikri Zidane Athaya & Fahad Abdul Aziz, 11th grade high school students, supervised by Mr. Susanto), and 2 Honorable Mentions in Chemistry (Hanif Alfarizki Pratama & Esad Bayram Arivamurti, 9th grade junior high school students, supervised by Mr. Ulma, and Attar Hasbi Elseconda & M. Fahrizal Marasabessy, Grade 9 junior high school students, supervised by Mr. Farhan).
At the same time, Cahaya Rancamaya students, M. Dwi Yudha Utama from 11th grade and Qaizer Farros Al Karim from 10th grade, also succeeded in becoming finalists representing Indonesia in the 2024 Genius Olympiad held in the United States of America.
“I feel immensely proud of the results bestowed upon us by Allah, considering the preparation we put into the competition materials and presentations yesterday, which boosted our confidence significantly. Initially, we hoped to achieve at least an Honorable Mention, without expecting to reach a Silver Medal, given the extraordinary competition from various countries. However, upon the announcement and receiving the Silver Medal, we are deeply grateful and overjoyed,” expressed Zulfiqar Nurrahim Putuanda.
In addition, the student known as Fiqi also expressed his gratitude and pride because they successfully competed with many senior and experienced students. In an event attended by 449 students representing 134 schools from 48 countries, they emerged as champions. This achievement significantly boosted their spirit and confidence in competitive environments.
Of course, to reach that stage, there were many struggles and sacrifices that had to be made, including sacrificing holiday time while friends were relaxing and enjoying vacations with their beloved families. Much preparation was needed, such as preparing competition materials, project materials, and presentation materials. Additionally, language preparation was crucial because presentations had to be conducted in English and evaluated directly by judges from the United Kingdom.
“However, all the preparations and challenges, alhamdulillah, were successfully overcome with maximum effort. Besides the support from parents, the teachers, and mentors at Cahaya Rancamaya School were also very supportive, which greatly helped in preparing for the competition,” added Fiqi. (Harmain)
